Art of Possession

Many times we hear the phrase the Lord is doing something new. Or the Lord has given us possession of something. What does that mean?

If you read in Joshua 6:1-5 the Lord has given us the Art of Possession.

Joshua 6:1-5

Now Jericho was shut up inside and outside because of the people of Israel. None went out, and none came in. 2 And the Lord said to Joshua, “See, (A)I have given Jericho into your hand, with its king and mighty men of valor. 3 You shall march around the city, all the men of war going around the city once. Thus shall you do for six days. 4 Seven priests shall bear seven (B)trumpets of (C)rams' horns before the ark. On the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and (D)the priests shall blow the trumpets. 5 And when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, when you hear the sound of the trumpet, then all the people shall shout with a great shout, and the wall of the city will fall down flat,[a] and the people shall go up, everyone straight before him.”

We know God's word never returns void therefore, it is a sure way to gain and maintain what the Lord has promised us. Let us begin to review the steps:

Art of Possession

1. Received your orders from the Lord. Where and who has he told you belong. What has he told you is yours.

2. See what the Lord has given you. What people and land.

3. Gain the Instructions for Possession.

4. Be sure to follow all the fine details of the instructions.

5. Listen for the Sound of the trumpet. The sound of Victory.

6. Hear the Sound! Give the order to SHOUT the victory! That all that are with you may run in and gain the spoils the Lord has given unto you.

7. The Jericho wall has fallen! Possess the Land. Subdue the Land. Dominate that place. For the Lord has given it unto you.

Following the guidelines given unto Joshua can bless us all to receive what God has for us. Remember the Lord told Joshua to go and get the men of war. Are you a man or women of war? We are called to fight for our victory. That is why we must be Strong and Courageous. That we march forward Worshipping, praying and glorifying the Lord. Going around and around until we have won the promise that God has spoken.
